Clara Thomas Ambler was the daughter of Joseph Garretson and Nancy Jane (Fife) Thomas. Her siblings were: Sarah, John, Franklin, Anna, Elizabeth and Joseph.

In 1881, she married Bryon Speight Ambler of Salem, Columbiana County, Ohio. They had a daughter named Laura.

Widow of Judge Ambler Dies At Home In Washington, D.C.

Funeral service for Mrs. Byron S.Ambler, 79, who died at noon Saturday at her home in Washington, D.C., following a lingering illness, was held this afternoon at the home of C. C. Gibson, a nephew, South Lincoln Avenue in charge of Rev. R. D. Walter, pastor of the Presbyterian church.

Burial was in Grandview cemetery.

Mrs. Ambler, widow of Judge Byron S. Ambler, was well known in Canton, Cleveland and other sections of northern Ohio. She was a native of Salem.

Mr. and Mrs. Ambler left here approximately 30 years ago when the former was named attorney general to the Phillippine Islands. Mr. Ambler died in 1925.

In addition to a daughter, Mrs. Harold M. Sasser of Washington, she leaves a brother, J. R. Thomas of Aurora, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. W. G. Imhoff of Pittsburg; Mrs. Anne Clizbee of Lima; and Mrs. W. H. Koll of Washington and Salem.
