Caleb Jarvis, a well known citizen of
this township, died at his residence,
near this place, on Saturday afternoon,
after an illness of six days with cholera
morbus. He was born October 17th,
1814, and came to this county from
Shelbyville, Kentucky, upwards of fifty
years ago. He was an industrious
man, and throughout life maintained
himself and family by honest toil. He
was the father of nine sons and two
daughters, of whom four sons and one
daughter survive him, as also his wife,
one brother and one sister. His age
was 69 years, 9 months and 29 days.
Appropriate services were conducted at
the residence on Sunday morning at
9 o'clock, Rev. Thos. Harrison officiating,
after which the interment took
place in the old cemetery at this place
August 21 1884
