Hazel W. Bartus, 95 of Clarksville, passed into the loving hands of the Lord on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at home.

She was born April 11, 1915 in Belle Vernon, a daughter of the late David and Alice Marsland Mason.

Mrs. Bartus was a homemaker and lived in Clarksville for 66 years. She was an elder and member of the Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church, Clarksville.

In addition to her enjoying spending time with her family, Hazel enjoyed reading, especially history. She also enjoyed painting ceramics, which she shared with her family and friends for many years. On June 13, 1936 she married Stanley Bartus, who died October 28, 1987.

Left to cherish her memory are five daughters, Joy Brooks of Mentor, OH, Barbara Millward and her husband George of Colonial Beach, VA, Sally Bartus of Port Charlotte, FL, Judy Bartus of Washington D.C., and Patti Young and her husband Alan of Springfield, VA; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; two sisters, Pearl Burcin of Monessen and Betty Yates of Huntington, WV.

Deceased are a son-in-law, Milton Brooks; a grandson, Ricky Brooks; a sister, Cora Austin and a brother, Lowman Mason.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, in the Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road. Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 7, 2010 in the Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church, Clarksville with the Rev. Ford Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial to the Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church, Clarksville or Hospice Care, P.O. Box 760, Arthurdale, WV 26520. Condolences may be expressed online at www.behmfuneralhomes.net.
