The June 17, 1870 census lists his family in McLean Co. Ill, age 37, and from as Holstein as was his parents and with sons William, Louis, and John, plus a brother-in-law Henry Lillienthal. Elizabeth, Henry, Caroline were born in Ill. and the rest ( Mary, Christina, Ben) were born in Texas. This would also indicate they came to Brown Co.,Texas near Bangs about 1876.

An copy of the obit. in Manard Messenger paper states that he died at the home of Doc Lockett (son-law) in Callahan Co. It stated he died of lagrippe.
