Preston Peterson Porter, 91, passed away
March 25, 2010 at home in Nampa, Idaho.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at the Nampa North Stake Center, 6111 Birch Lane in Nampa. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at the Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N Midland Blvd, Nampa and at the church from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral services.

Interment will be at Terrace lawn Cemetery in Boise following the service.

Preston was born May 10, 1918 in Preston, Idaho and the seventh child and sixth son of Albert E. and Mary Peterson Porter. Preston's father died when he was 10 years old leaving his mother to raise 11 children. Preston attended schools in Preston, Idaho and enlisted in the Army in August of 1941 serving in North Africa and Italy during WWII. He 'played' in the Rose Bowl January 1, 1942 and was honorably discharged in August of 1945 and enrolled at Utah State Agricultural College in January 1946 receiving his Bachelor Degree in Accounting Economics in June 1949. He was employed by the Department of Treasury as an auditor until retirement in 1975. Preston married his high school sweetheart Norma Goodsell in June of 1947 and Norma passed away in December of that year.

Preston married Dorothy Mae Parson January 1949 and their marriage produced 4 children: Larry, Deborah, David and Ann.

Dorothy passed away in March of 1992. Preston met another love of his life, Mildred Whitaker and they were married in January 1998.

They enjoyed life together until his passing. Preston was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions such as Bishop, name extraction missionary, family history missionary, and temple ordinance worker.

Preston is survived by his wife, Mildred Whitaker Porter, children: Larry (Tawna), Deborah, David (Sherri) of Boise and Ann of Kansas City, Missouri, Mildred's children: Deanna (Hal) Beames, Steven (Cindy) Whitaker, Barbara (Bob) Lewis, Beverly (Darrell) Bifano, Tom (Sharon) Whitaker and Warren (Mary) Whitaker, his sister, Fern Larsen and sister-in-law Fern Porter both of Preston, Idaho and brother, John (Clarice) Porter of Providence, Utah. He is also survived by 30 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa. 208-467-7300.
