Death of the Widow of the Founder of Stevens Institute
HOBOKEN, N.J., April 1. Mrs. Martha Bayard Stevens, of Castle Point. widow of Edwin Augustus Stevens, whose gift of $650.000 founded the Stevens Institute, died today at her home, aged 65 years. She was the daughter of the late Albert B. Dod, professor of mathematics of Princeton College. She was a desendent of the Bavard family who came to this country from Holland prior to the Revolution. Mrs. Stevens founded the Holy Innocents Church in Hobokin as a memorial to her daughter Julia, who died when but a girl. Mrs. Stevens also made other charitable and religious bequests.
