Mrs. Emma V. Skau, 41, widow of the late Christian Skau, was tragically killed when struck by a car as she walked along Highway 73-E three mile south of Atchison. She was walking toward Atchison after a visit at the Vanderweide farm when the accident occurred.
Mrs. Skau was born in the Pardee community, February 21, 1893, and was married at Joplin, Missouri. Christian Skau farmed in the Farmington community prior to his death in 1929.
She is survived by three sons; Orville, an employee of the Locomotive Finishing Material Co.; Warren and Arthur, Atchison High School students; and the following brothers and sisters; Mrs. Dolly Thomas, Pierceville, Kansas; Bill Anderson, Kingman, Kansas; Marion Anderson, Leavenworth; Mrs. Effie Woodard, Omaha; Frank Anderson, Wetmore; Mrs. Nettie Rucker, Buckner, Missouri; Mrs. Hattie Tanner, Los Angeles, California; Mrs. Bessie Smith, Kansas City; and Mrs. H. R. Sanders, Cummings.
