Father and Son Die Within Two Hours

Nels Pete Pearson, 86, of Blakesburg route 2, and his son, Arthur Edward Pearson, 52, employee of Wapello County, died early today within two hours.

The elder man died at 1:30 a.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Stevens at Blakesburg, following a stroke suffered last Saturday. He was the son of Nels P. and Louisa Pearson and was born in this county February 17, 1856. He lived in the country his entire life and was a member of the Munterville Lutheran Church. Besides his daughter, he is survived by a son, Orval Pearson of Blakesburg, route 2; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Fred Johnson of Chicago. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma, a daughter, Hattie Venator, and a son in infancy. The body was removed to the Johnson Funeral Chapel pending arrangements.

The son died at his home 309 North Hancock street at 3:30 a.m. having been in ill health for some time. He was in the county's maintenance department for 14 years. He was born in Wapello county July 2, 1890 and lived in this vicinity all his life. He was a member of the Munterville Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife Gertrude, a sister, Mrs. William Stevens of Blakesburg; and a brother, Orval Pearson of Blakesburg route 2. His body was taken to the Johnson Funeral Chapel pending arrangements.
