Levi Barrett was born c 1827, the eldest son of William Barrett and Mary Ford of South Carolina and Cleveland County, NC.
He and all his male siblings served valiantly with Confederate forces. His siblings were Nancy Collins, James S, Franklin, Henry W, Harriet Randall, Olivia Wesson, George W and twins Berry and Perry Barrett.
He was the husband of Betsy Smith Barrett.
Levi enlisted 1 March 1863 in 15th Reg Co C, Civil War from Cleveland Co.
He was captured at Bristoe Station, Va on 14 Oct 1863 and confined at Old Capital Prison, Washington, DC.
He died 27 Nov 1863 with typhoid fever.
