Kirklin lost one of its most widely known nonagenarians at 8:00 o'clock Sunday morning when Mrs. Minervia J. Wynkoop, 96, wife of James V. Wynkoop, died at the family home of a complication of diseases and infirmities which accompany advanced age. She had been in ill health for about three months.

She was the oldest child of Milton and Priscilla Ballenger, who were natives of Burbon County, Kentucky, when coming to the county with her parents, they settled on a farm northeast of Kirklin, and now known as the W.H. Cast farm.
Mrs. Wynkoop had two sisters, Rebecca A. Goodrich and Sarah C. King, also two brothers, Aaron T. Ballenger and William E. Ballenger, all who have preceded her in death.
Mrs. Wynkoop was united in marriage to James V. Wynkoop, October 6, 1853, who departed this life February 14, 1904. After their marriage, they resided on a farm near Kirklin, until about 30 years ago, when they moved to Kirklin, where they resided until death.
She leaves to mourn her death, her nearest relatives, nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral services were conducted from the home Tuesday morning by Rev. J.O. Carder, of the First Methodist Church, and the body was laid to rest in the family cemetery, two miles north of Kirklin.
