Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of the late Billy Verl Abernathy and was the daughter of the late Roland T. and Macie (Sarratt) Clary.
A graduate of Gaffney High School, she retired from Safeway Grocery and was a member of First Baptist Church.
Surviving is a son, William Mark Abernathy of Black Mountain, NC; a brother, Jack K. Clary and wife, Evelyn, of Gaffney; a sister-in-law, Darlene Hicks and husband, Cecil, of Powdersville, Georgia; one granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Abernathy, a brother, Roland T. Clary, Jr., and two sisters, Sue Clary Benson and Miriam Turner.
The family received friends 1:00-2:00 PM on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Blakely Funeral Home.
Funeral services followed at 2:00 PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Comer and Dr. Wofford Caughman officiating. Interment was in Oakland Cemetery.
