As a young boy Walt delighted in driving his pony and pony cart around the streets of Tacony,Phila. As an adult he was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed deep sea fishing and hunting. His biggest thrill was accompanying his son to Alberta, Canada, where he shot a bear-the skin being proudly displayed in his den. Walt enjoyed trap shooting and was a member of several outdoor clubs. He was a member of the National Campers and and Hikers Association. He was a member of Tacony Lodge 600 F.& A.M. Masons. He also served as a trustee at Holmesburg Baptist Church. During summers he enjoyed frequent visits to Ocean City, NJ, where he and Shirley had a house trailer in a campground.
