Bertha C. Bales, 57, lifelong Guymon resident, died Friday evening, Jan 8, at the Memorial Hospital of Texas County. The daughter of Odie and Elizabeth (Gloden) Weikle, she was born northwest of Guymon on Sept. 4, 1935. She attended the Guymon school system.

She and Kenneth L. Bales were united in marriage on March 11, 1963, at Raton, N.M. She was a homemaker and mother of six children.

Her parents and eight brothers and sisters preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth L Bales of the home; five sons and one daughter, Garry Carter, Butch Carter and Kenneth W. Bales, all of Guymon; Don Carter of Odessa, Texas, Jerry Bales of Tulsa, and Debora Rudolph of Cherokee; 10 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and two sisters, Lillie Gibson of Canon City, Colo., Erma Hale of Guymon.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday morning, Jan 12, at 10 a.m. from the Bunch-Roberts Chapel with Rev. Odie Nunley officiating . Interment will be in the Elmhurst Cemetery under the direction of the Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
