Edna Rippeon Brown, 87, of Mt. Airy, died Monday. March 14, 1988, at Vindobona Nursing Home in Braddock Heights. Born in Hoods Mill in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late Harry N. and Maude Etchison Rippeon. She was the wife of John H. Brown, who died in November 1979. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Mt. Airy. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary American Legion Post 191, Mt. Airy, for 31 years. She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Mt. Airy Volunteer Fire Department. Surviving ar daughters Grace B. Harrison and Dorothy B. Wagner, both of Mt. Airy; son John E. Brown of Mt. Airy; brother Robert Rippeon of West Friendship; sisters Nellie Green of Woodbine and Maude Bowman of West Friendship; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Burrier Funeral Home, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road. Winfield, with the Rev. Carol C. Yocum, pastor of Calvary United Methodist Church in Mt. Airy, officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Mt. Airy. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m Wednesday at the funeral home.
