Deseret News, The (Salt Lake City, UT) - December 7, 2013. Obituary: Janet Andrus, UT, United States, 1922 ~ 2013. Our sweet mother and grandmother, Janet S. Andrus, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at the home of her daughter where she has been lovingly cared for this past year and a half. She was surrounded by her family. Janet was born July 15, 1922 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada to Gilbert and Annie Somerville. At the age of 16 she moved to Vancouver BC with her family where she met her sweetheart Grant R. Andrus. They courted long distance while Grant served in the Army Air Corps. They were married in the Logan Temple on July 26, 1945. Grant brought his new bride to Draper, Utah, where they raised their family. They began their life as dairy farmers where they worked side by side to provide for their family. Grant passed away in August of 1994. Janet served faithfully in many callings as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a perfect example of sacrifice, service, and hard work.
Janet was preceded in death by her loving husband, Grant, her two sons, Timothy and Frank, and her 6 siblings.
She is survived by her children, Wayne (Mary), Bev (Wayne) Anderson, Laurie (Randy) Gerona, Craig (Christine) and Roger (Jolene), 25 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Pine Mountain Hospice for the loving care they gave to mom. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 9, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Draper 7th Ward Chapel, 600 East 12300 South, Draper, Utah. A viewing will be held Sunday, December 8, 2013, at the church from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and prior to the service from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment in the Draper City Cemetery. www.goffmortuary.com
