Jay N Telleson passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 30, 2012. The evening before, his family gathered around him, lovingly remembering events in their lives. He slipped quietly away early in the morning, holding hands with his eternal companion, Glorya.

He was born February 20, 1932 in Ogden, Utah, the son of Jacob Nicholi and Theresa Greer Housley Telleson.

On June 5, 1953, Jay married Glorya Lynn Stokes in the Logan LDS Temple; they were married 59 years. They made their home in Roy, Utah.

He graduated from Ogden High School in 1949. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War. Following a short period working for Union Pacific Railroad, he began his lifelong career as a firefighter with the Ogden City Fire Department. The family moved to Sacramento, California while Jay attended Sacramento City Junior College. They returned to Utah and Jay returned to his career at Hill Air Force Base Fire Department, retiring as a Crew Chief in 1972.

Jay was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities in the Scouting program. He also served as Secretary in the Cedar Crest Ward High Priest Quorum.

He was an outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing and camping. He looked forward to his family's annual vacation in Cub River Recreation area. His family brought him his greatest joy and he was very proud of them.

Jay is the father of three sons and one daughter, Douglas Jay (Betsy) Telleson, Huntsville; Scott Nicholi Telleson, Roy; Robert Thomas Telleson; and Holly Latice Telleson Engle.

He is survived by his loving wife, Glorya; two sons, nine grandchildren, Amanda Telleson (Joshua) Jones, Heber City; Amber Engle (Terry Jonathan) Green, Taylorsville; Brandon (Jana) Telleson, Ogden; Derek (Samantha) Telleson, Holly Springs, NC; Casandra Telleson (Preston) Costley, Casper, WY; Alexander James (BreAnne) Buchanan, Ogden; Ainsley McColley (Hanzel) Rodriguez, Phoenix, AZ; Alexsis Telleson (Steven) Clark, Casper, WY; Michael McColley, serving in the Chile Santiago North Mission; seven great-grandchidlren; one sister, Melba Atkinson, American Fork; a son-in-law, S. James (Laurel) Buchanan, Mt. Green; and a daughter-in-law, Alyson Draper, Midway.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert; daughter, Holly; brothers, Robert Frank and John Telleson; and sisters, Dorothy Joy and Louise Telleson.

Interment, Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
