Jane Vanatta was a daughter of Peter Vanatta and his wife Rebecca Starrett. She was their 2nd known child.

Jane was married to William T. Bennett (1790-1866) while they both lived in Smith County, Tennesse, probably around 1813. However no record of this marriage seems to have survived. This marriage produced at least 12 children (there may have been more):

1. Harrison Paradise Bennett b. 1814 - Married Sarah H. Bennett (daughter of Benjamin Bennett & Susanna Lucinda Taylor)

2. Eliza Bennett b. abt. 1817 - Married Louis P. Hicks

3. Matilda F. Bennett b. 1823 - Married Henderson P. Kemp

4. John M. Bennett b. 1824 - Married Mary Parker

5. William Carroll Bennett b. 1826 - Married Julia or Judy Yeargin

6. Elizabeth H. Bennett b. 1827 - Married William C. Williams

7. Golden Bransford Bennett b. 1828 - Married Amanda Warford

8. Mary Jane Bennett - b. 1833 in Smith County, Tennessee - Married Henry Bollinger had one child, Matilda Jane "Tillie" Bollinger who became the wife of William Collin McKinney

9. Martha W. Bennett b. 1836 - Married James M. Potts in 1856 in St. Francois Co., MO.

10. James S. Bennett b. Dec. 28, 1838 in Tennessee - Married Lottie J. "Lettie" Steen on July 3, 1870, in Grayson County, Texas. She died in 1894 in McIntosh County, Oklahoma. He also died in McIntosh Co., OK., in 1920.

11. Dr. Allison Carr "A.C." Bennett b. May 19, 1840, in DeKalb Co., TN. He was married in 1861 in Missouri to Elizabeth Davis "Eliza" Albright. She died Feb. 14, 1922, in Harmon Co., OK., and he died Jan. 10, 1929 in Mangum, Greer Co., OK.

12. Harriett Nell Bennett b. June 1843 in DeKalb Co., TN. - Married John S. Parker (1839-1884) on Dec. 15, 1864, in Jefferson Co., IL. Harriett died Feb 25, 1919, in Ada, Pontotoc County, OK. Her husband died March 12, 1884, in Grayson County, TX.
