JOPLIN, Mo. — Beverly D. Martin, age 75, of Joplin, Mo. passed away Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Freeman Health System following an illness.

Beverly was born Nov. 4, 1937, the daughter of the late Dean Wheeler and Almeda (Brown) Moore in Carthage, Mo. and was a lifetime area resident. She worked alongside her husband in several businesses over many years. Beverly owned and operated Country Sunshine Day Care for seven years. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Beverly is survived of her husband, Phillip, of 57 years; two daughters, Lynn Frisby and husband, Mike, and Kelly Mills and boyfriend, Clinton Clouse, all of Joplin; one step-brother, John Moore and his wife, Charmagne, Tulsa, Okla.; one step-sister, Vera Marshall, Apple Valley, Calif., and best friend and sister-in-law, Delores Oakes; four grandchildren, Rusty, Amanda, Roxi and Jamie Mills; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Leslie A. Martin; and a son, Rocky Martin; two sisters, Sue Ann Wheeler and Jeannie DeGraff; her step-father, Alpha Moore; and a step-brother, Wayland Moore.

Beverly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, and her church activities. She especially enjoyed her trips and time spent with her aunts, uncles and cousins in Carthage.

Services will be Tuesday Feb. 5, at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Johnny Wilkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Osborne Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be directed to AO Vantage Point Day Program in care of the mortuary.
