Basil Edward Baker, age 59, of Arcadia, IN died January 30, 2013.

He was born April 10, 1953 at Noblesville, Indiana to Paul Wayne and Kathryn Anna (Irwin) Baker.

He was a graduate of Hamilton Heights High School with the Class of 1972. He attended Anderson College.

He was employed for 25 years at Firestone Industrial Rubber Products Company at Noblesville. He then worked for ten years for the Town of Arcadia. Basil had also served on the Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Arcadia Church of the Brethren.

Basil loved all sports and had coached baseball, football, soccer, softball and basketball for the Atlanta Youth League and the Hamilton Heights Youth Sports League. He had also been an umpire for the baseball teams. These volunteer activities covered a span of thirty years.

He married Shara Lee (Rogers) Baker on November 18, 1977. She survives him along with their son: Caleb Baker of Cicero, IN and a daughter: Lindsy (Ryan) Richards of Arcadia, IN, sister: Carol Baber of Arcadia, IN, brothers: Robert Baker of Arcadia, IN and Michael Baker of Arcadia, IN, four grandchildren: Layne Baker, Chanda Richards, Caitlyn Richards and Kali Richards as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother: Dale Baker

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 4, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Arcadia Church of the Brethren with Pastor Benjamin Poole officiating. Burial will be at the Arcadia Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. also at the Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Atlanta Youth Foundation, P.O. Box 124, Atlanta, IN 46031 or the Hamilton Heights Youth Sports League c/o Hartley Funeral Homes.
