Martin Fenwick was the infant son of Thomas Yates Fenwick and Sarah Ann (Edelen) Fenwick. He was the grandson of Jenry Fenwick and Sarah (Yates) Fenwick and Robert Edelen, Sr. and Elizabeth Hester "Hettie" (Riney) Edelen.

He was baptized at St. Rose Church, near Springfield, Kentucky on November 21, 1856.

He has no burial entry at St. Rose Church. However his tombstone was standing when the Rev. Orval Baylor of Springfield published a 1935 list of tombstones in THE SPRINGFIELD SUN on June 3, 1937.
