James Zambelli passed away on September 22 finally free of cancer. Surrounded throughout his last days by his wife Betty and his children James Gregory (Karen) of Illinois, Kelly Applegate (Donny) of Virginia, and Christopher of Jacksonville. Spent 30 years in the Navy experiencing global cultures, and traveling with Navy fast-pitch softball teams as an ace pitcher. Jim later focused on molding young players into confident athletes. He learned golf in Scotland, practicing 25 years at Mayport Golf Course. Volunteer Announcer at TPC and Gate Tournaments. A proud American and Yankees fan, the world according to Jim was shared in letters periodically appearing in local editorials. Having two families during his lifetime Grandpa Jim followed activities of Crystal, Zachary, Lauren, Matthew and great-grandson Jackson. Wake at Hardage-Giddens, 1701 Beach Blvd. Jacksonville Beach Thursday, September 27, 4 - 8 PM. Funeral Mass Friday 11AM at Mayport Naval Station Chapel, 350 Massey Ave. Mayport, FL.
