Laura Miles Cole, 83, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at Hillcrest Manor, Sunnyside.

She was born April 3, 1922 in Smithfield, Cache County, Utah to John Miles and Sarah Bright Miles. She came to Washington with her family in 1939, and graduated from White Bluffs High School. She was married to Ray C. Coles from 1940 to 1946. She lived and worked in the Yakima Valley until March of 1953, when she married Rex A. Cole, and moved to Montana. They returned to Washington, where they lived in Sunnyside, Prosser and Royal City. They returned to Sunnyside at retirement time.

Laura worked at many things, such as lead cook in a school district in Montana, as a bookkeeper and tax preparer. She was especially pleased that she was able to become a CNA in her later years.

Laura was a lifetime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many positions of leadership over the years.

Laura loved a beautiful yard and spent many hours growing flowers and pulling weeds. She loved cooking, camping, quilting and spending time in serving others.

She is survived by two sons, Laurel Ray Coles (Clara) of Roy, Utah and John Cole (Sandra) of Brookline, N.H.; three daughters, Bonita (James) Taylor of Omak, Janet (Tony) Eagar of Goodyear, Ariz. and Gay Lynn Cole of Afton, Wyo.; two brothers, Dale (Neola) Miles of Linden, Utah and JayVale Miles (Esther) of Sunnyside; 19 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rex Cole; grandson, Larry Coles; two sisters, Adeline Miles and Luella Stolp; and a brother, Rees Miles.
