Julius enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1943. He served as a radio operator on a troop transport plane in the European theater. He stayed in the Air Force after the war, serving in Germany, Korea, Vietnam, Spain and at the Strategic Air Command in Omaha, Nebraska.
Julius retired from the Air Force on March 1, 1969 and settled in Phoenix, Arizona, where his parents had retired to. He died in 1982 after a multi-year battle with cancer.
