He was a native of Isle of Wight County, having lived all his life in the Mill Swamp community. He was a member of Mill Swamp Baptist Church.
He was a son of Willie Norman and Mrs. Carrie Gwaltney Barlow.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Sidney Pittman of Battery Park, Mrs. Richard Capehart of Chesapeake, Mrs. Alvey J. Reckley of Norfolk, and Mrs. Ted Boothe of Smithfield; three sisters, Mrs. Jacob Pond of Franklin, Mrs. John Ransone of Hampton, and Mrs. Casper Skeeter of Smithfield; a brother, W.N. Barlow, Jr. of Chesapeake; and 11 grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Bullock Funeral Home by the Rev. David C. Anderson and the Rev. Horace B. Jones. Burial will be in Mill Swamp Cemetery.
