Henry was born and raised on the same farm as his father and grandfather before him, which was the homestead farm of his great-grandfather, Phillip Burbach 1. After his marriage he rented a farm until 1899 when he bought a 50 acre farm in Buliskin Twp., Fayette Co., PA. He later sold this farm and bought a 70 acre one on which he lived and did general farming, stock raising and dairying. He was a democrat and served on the Democratic County Committee. He was civic minded and served in several township offices. He was a member of the local grange, Patrons of Husbandry. They were life long members of the German Reformed Church. The day he died he was repairing the barn roof when the rope broke letting him fall 40 feet to the ground. He died a few hours later.
