Jonathan Pickett Melton was born to William (Billy) Melton and Lee Ann (Hardin) Melton. His grandparents were Richard Melton and Phoeba (Hutchenson) Melton.
His siblings were John Melton (b.1851), Polly Melton (b.1856), Rachael Melton (b.1858), Robert Ernest Melton (b.1859-d.1925), Eddie Lila Melton (b.1860), Nancy Ann (Hummel) Melton (b.1861-d.1945), William Ambrose Melton (b.1862-d.1925), Sarah Loretta (Long) Melton (b.1865-d.1960), Helen Melton (b.1869), Elizabeth Melton (b.1871), Martha Belle Melton (b.1873) and James Melton (b.1874-d.1922).

Mary died of infection caused by a bite from a rat. Charlie Melton (b.January 7,1882-d.May 7,1898), he died from a fall. Charlie is buried in the St. Johns Cemetery.
Jewell died as an infant. She was born and died within a few days.
Katherine (Kittie Melton) Enoch (bDecember 6,1896-dMarch 2,1937)
Kittie married Walter Enoch of Smith County, Tennessee on August 13, 1925. She had four sons and one daughter. Wilma Jean drowned in Clay County in 1952 and is buried in the Chowning Cemetery in East Clay County.
Jonathan, Elizabeth and their daughter Laura are buried side by side on the family farm in eastern Clay County in the Pleasant Hill community.
