Sammy "Sam" Houston Buckett, passed away at his home in Grove, OK, on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the age of 75.

Sam was born September 13, 1937 in Augusta, KS, the son of the late Grover Cleveland Buckett and Gladys (Quallate) Buckett. Sam grew up in the Grove area and graduated from Grove High School in 1957. He married Jo Ann Youngs at the First Baptist Church in Jay, OK. Sam worked for Southwestern Bell as a Lineman/Installer for 34 years until his retirement. He attended Carr Baptist Church. Sam was an avid Arkansas Razorback fan, NASCAR fan, classic car enthusiast and was proud of his Cherokee Indian heritage. Sam's utmost joy was the love he shared with his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and family. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three siblings: Eldon Eugene Buckett (Tee), Wayne Buckett (Peekee), and Arawanah Masters.

He is survived by his wife Jo Ann Buckett of the home; five children: Eldon Buckett and his wife Anne of Wichita, KS, Kim Clements and her husband Earl of Joplin, MO, Jan Barrett and her husband Terry of Grove, OK, Debbie Jones and her husband Shane of Littleton, CO, and Sammy Snow and her husband Lee of Grove, OK; eight grandchildren: Houston Buckett, Sheridan Buckett, Lynsey Perry and her husband Hunter, Matthew McConnell and his wife Ashley, Dalton Barrett, Hunter Jones, Colten Jones, and Danyelle Snow; three great grandchildren: Connor Perry, Brooks Perry, and Rhodes McConnell; four siblings: Mary (Onnie) Murphy, Charles Buckett, Audine George, Patti Rodman; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

The graveside service will be held at the Butler Cemetery on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 2PM with Chaplain Geoff Buffalo, presiding and Mr. Gary Manning, assisting. The family will greet friends from 6PM to 8PM at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, OK on Thursday, January 31, 2013. Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, OK. Friends and family may leave notes of encouragement by viewing Sam's Book of Memories at www.honoringmemories.com.

Casket bearers will be Sam's grandsons: Matthew McConnell, Dalton Barrett, Houston Buckett, Hunter Jones, Colten Jones, and Hunter Perry.
