John Hanafee, a Southern railroad passenger engineer and an old resident of the city, who lived at 1409 East Oak street, died at St. Edward's Hospital this morning. His death was due to cancer of the stomach after a long illness. Mr. Hanafee was 60 years old and had lived practically all his life in this city. For many years he had been in the employe of the Southern Railway Company. Besides his wife he is survived by five sons, William, Leo, and John Hanafee, of this city; Ensign Frank Hanafee, of the navy; and Eugene Hanafee, a student in St. Meinrad College. - New Albany Daily Ledger 01 Mar 1919
