Nathaniel Bean, son of Nathaniel (who built the first mills at Great Falls) settled here in the early 1800's and died in 1840 of the smallpox along with his daughter Hannah. They had administered aid to a neighbor Moses Davis, who had the dreaded disease. Father and daughter are buried near this place down in the woods.
