Funeral services for Katie Lou Irby, age 98, of Oak Grove, LA will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, Febuary 1, 2013 at Goodwill Church Of God in Oak Grove, LA with Rev. Jason Strong officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Oak Grove.
Katie Lou Irby was born on September 11, 1914 in Brookhaven, MS. and passed away on January 27, 2013 in Oak Grove, LA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie D. Irby; son, Noel Irby; son, Ronnie Irby; daughter, Maxine Smith; son, Kenny Irby; son-in-law, John D. Miles; son-in-law, Herman Smith; granddaughter, Veronica Collum McKoin; great-granddaughter, Erika Pratt; great-grandson, Reed Thames; four brothers, Carl, Jess, John "Bud", and Doil Bowman; and six sisters, Zula Russell, Zelma Bassemier, Geanie Wall, Belle Chisholm, Lois Williams, and Helen Reeves.
Survivors include her ten children, Willie Jean Smith of Oak Grove; Rebecca Irby Mayhall of Bossier City, LA; Cherry Irby Berthelot and husband, Lionel of Oak Grove; Linda Collum and husband, Ralph of Oak Grove; Donna Irby Whitney and husband, Johnny of Baton Rouge, LA; Brenda Irby Haverkampf and husband, Rick of Little Rock, AR; Terry Irby and wife, Susie of Baton Rouge, LA; Reba Irby Causey and husband, Clarence of DeRidder, LA; Danny Irby of Oak Grove; and Darlene Irby Smith and husband, John of Haughton, LA; son-in-law, Vernon "Shorty" Smith of Oak Grove; and numerous nieces and nephews.
