Thomas was born at 14 Links Street on 3 Aug 1856 in St. Nicholas, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. He was the third of six sons born to Thomas Miller, Sr. and Georgina Mackay. Of the six sons born to Thos., Sr. and Georgina, Thomas was one of three who survived to adulthood. Two years after his father's death in 1884, Thomas, age 30, immigrated to the US in Apr 1886 aboard the SS Arizona. His brother Robert immigrated to England sometime before 1890, then immigrated to the US in 1902. Thomas and Robert raised their families in Cleveland, Ohio and surviving brother, James Miller remained in Scotland with his family.

Thomas married Catherine (Kate) English Clemens in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois on 2 Jun 1892.

Thomas adopted Kate's son from her previous marriage to Andrew J. Clemens:
* Nordul P. Clemens, was known as Andrew Perry Miller (1888 - 1934)

Thomas and Kate had 3 children while living in Chicago, Illinois:
* Mary Viola, known as Mamie (1893 - 1973)
* Grace Eleanor (1897 - 1939)
* Robert Emmett (1898 - 1971)

Sometime between 1898 - 1900 the Thomas Miller family moved from Chicago, IL to Cleveland, OH and lived near Thomas' wife Catherine's parents; Michael and Mary Vesey English. The 1900 Census lists the Thomas Miller family at 182 Vermont Ave. in Cleveland, which is just across the Cuyahoga River that runs South of Downtown Cleveland. The area was previously known as the Irish Angle and now is called Irish Bend.

5 children were born to Thomas and Kate in Cleveland, Ohio:
* Kathleen Grace (1900 - 1966)
* Thomas, Jr. (1902 - 1903)
* Marguerite Bernadette (1904 - 1991)
* Rose Beatrice (1906 - 1979)
* Thomas "Michael" (1909 - 1977)

Thomas was employed at Empire Steel, in Cleveland. While working at that job, he accidentally cut his left shinbone and the wound developed into gangrene and sepsis blood poisoning. Thomas F Miller passed away less than two months after his beloved wife Kate had passed.

Thomas F. Miller rests with Catherine (English) Miller at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Cleveland Ohio at Grave No. 2, Section 4, Lot 76. His burial date was: 7 Dec 1928. His age is listed as age 59 at the time of his death on his death certificate (which would be a birth year of 1869) The information regarding his birth year on his death record is incorrect, when based on his original 3 Aug 1856 birth record from Scotland, Thomas' actual age at the time of his passing was 72 years old.

Thomas & Kate rest in Grave 2 along with their nephew, Frances Colleran (son of James and Margaret English Colleran). Thomas & Kate's infant son, Thomas, who passed at the age of 8 mos., rests in Grave 1 along with Kate's parents; Michael and Mary Vesey English.
