Delpha Lorna Brainard, daughter of Harvey A. and Louisa M. (Meana) Moore was born April 7, 1918 at Postville, Iowa. She died on March 11, 1993 in Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, Wis. She was 74.

Delpha was baptized at the Methodist Church in Monona and confirmed at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. She grew up in Luana, Iowa and was graduated from the Luana High School in 1935.

On Nov. 2, 1936 she married Carl Brainard in Luana. To this union, 7 children were born. Delpha had been a resident of Postville since 1950.

Preceding her in death were her parents, a son, Lawrence, a daughter, Carlene, and 3 brothers, William, Jason and Harley Moore.

Surviving are 3 sons, Bob (Beverly) Brainard of Milton, Fla., Charles (Marsha) Brainard of Postville and Kent Brainard of Chicago; 2 daughters, Callie (Kenneth) Marek of Redondo Beach, Calif., and Dixie Koopman of Bloomington, Minn. Delpha is also survived by 10 grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and 3 sisters, Verna Lenhart of Elkader, Ruth Starkey of Ankeny and Virginia Starkey of Bucoda, Wash.; a half-sister, Lorna Peterson of Rockwell, Iowa, and a half-brother, Larry Moore of Thornton, Iowa.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 13, 1993 at 3 p.m. in the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, the Rev. Charles Miller officiating. The Schutte Funeral Home of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery. Casket bearers were Robert Eberling, Merle Lubka, Dan Rochester, Dave Palas, Edward Handke and James Ewing.
