After Nola's death, Thomas remarried to Mrs. Maggie (Moore) Headley, and had children Edna, Calvin Richard, Jewel Marie and Elma Lee, half siblings to Nola's children. Thomas is buried with Maggie in the Belton Cemetery, Cass Co MO.

It should be noted that a daughter from Thomas 2nd marriage, Jewell, changed his surname from Shelten to Shelton because she "thought it looked better" per one of her siblings. His tombstone is engraved "Shelton", his obit contains both spellings.

Note: Tombstones for her two infants are incorrectly engraved "Shelton", not "Shelten".
