Morton B. Ward of Kirklin, father of James W. Ward, died at his home on Tuesday night of a cerebral hemorrhage. He was Kirklin's town marshal, and had been active in business and political affairs there for a number of years. A native of Kirklin, he was born Sept. 1, 1885, to George and Armilda Herial Ward. On April 30, 1904, he married Minnie Madison. Mr. Ward was a carpenter and contractor by trade, and was a member of the Kirklin Christian church and F. & A. M. lodge No. 443.

He is survived by the widow, three sons, Ralph and Gerald of Kirklin and James W. of Rossville; two sisters, Mrs. James Ulm of Tipton and Mrs. Paul Underwood of Frankfort; three brothers, Chester, Losey and Norval, all of Kirklin, and ten grandchildren. A daughter died at birth.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p. m. Friday afternoon at the Kirklin Christian church with Rev. Thomas Courtney officiating. Interment was in Oak Hill cemetery.
