NORTH ADAMS - Virginia Marie Bushee Briggs, 89 of 93 Cleveland Ave. North Adams, died Friday January 25, 2013 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington.
She was born in Bennington, Vt., on November 12, 1923, daughter of Alfred and Louise (Pellerin) Bushee. She attended Bennington schools including the Sacred Heart School.
Virginia was employed at the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams. She was last employed at the former Zayre's Dept. Store in North Adams. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church. Virginia enjoyed bowling and was a longtime volunteer at North Adams Regional Hospital.
She was the widow of George J. Briggs who died on December 31, 2002. They were married on January 29, 1944.
Survivors include two daughters- Sandra Ferris of Titusville, Fla., and Kathleen Vachon of Shaftsbury, Vt., One Son; Jeffrey G. Briggs of North Adams, five grandchildren; Michele Kupiec, Nanette Reid, Paul J. Renaud, Alicia Emaish, and Jaime Joly. Nine great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Three sisters and two brothers are deceased including Louise Hollister, Elaine Birkland, Annette Morrissey; George and Edmond Bushee.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Services for Virginia Briggs will be held in the spring. Burial will be in Southview cemetery in North Adams.
