Services are scheduled at 1 PM Friday at Ridgeway Funeral Home for Luther Perry Stewart of Puryear.

William Jones and Randy Tracy will officiate. Burial will be in Walker Cemetery.

Named as pallbearers are David Martin, Robert Newcomb, Bert Paschall, Dick Vincent, Bob Callison and Don Jones.

Visitation will be 4-8 PM today and after 10 AM Friday.

Stewart, 89, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, at his residence.

Born in Puryear on March 15, 1913, he was a son of James Warren Stewart and Nora Brisendine Stewart, now deceased.

He was married Jan. 18, 1936, to the former Ella B. Milliken, who survives.

Stewart was a retired farmer and member of Mill Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Besides his wife, he leaves a son: Jimmy Joe (Cynthella) Stewart of Brighton;

Three grandchildren: Diana Marie Douglass of Bartlett, Sylvia Y. Morrison of Orlando, Fla., and Joseph Perry Stewart of Shelby Township, Mich.; and seven great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by two sisters: Emma Ruth Paschall and Rachel McSwain; and three brothers: Hallet, Virgil and Finny Stewart.
