J P RAMSEY DIES
Funeral Services for Well Know Contractor Today.
J.P. Ramsey 60, 1540 Douglas Street, one of Memphis' oldest general contractors died yesterday, noon, at General Hospital following an illness of less than two weeks. Cause of death has not yet been determined. Two blood transfusions were resorted to in an effort to save Mr. Ramsey's life.
For more than 35 years, Mr. Ramsey was identified in the contracting circles of Memphis and has erected countless dwellings throughout the county. In late years he had been in failng health.
Funeral Services will be held today at 2:30 o'clock from the Eastside Presbyterian Church, conducted by Rev W.E. Johnson and C.R. Madlock with burial at Forest Hill Cemetery. McDowell & Monteverde are in charge of arrangements.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Etta Ramsey age 59 years, daughters, Mrs. J.R Whittington (Helen) Mrs. John Neal (Hilda), Mrs. Herman Kelly (Hazel), Hollis Ramsey, sons Harry James Ramsey and Herbert Porter Ramsey.
