News reached the city yesterday of the death of Rev. E. Badoil, for over twenty-five years Rector of St. Peter's Catholic Church at Reserve, St John's Parish. Father Badoil was a native of Lyons, France, and next Friday would have celebrated the thirty-ninth anniversary of his priesthood. Father Badoil was over 60 years of age. Immediately after his ordination he was assigned to the Catholic Church at Calcasieu. In the yellow fever epidemic of 1870 he, with a young priest who was his companion, took the fever. His companion died from the dread disease, but Father Badoil recovered and was assigned to Burras Settlement, at the Jetties. After a short time his zeal led him to return to the work in Calcasieu at that time one of the hardest parishes in the diocese, and one that few priests felt brave enough to undertake. Calcasieu at that time embraced a region that is now divided into nine different parishes. The work was difficult in the extreme, but he performed it faithfully and well. The funeral will take place on Wednesday morning, and the funeral services will be held immediately after the arrival of the morning train. It is expected that many priests from the city will attend the funeral.
Obituary, The Daily Picayne, 15 Sep 1908, p 11

Father Badoil was survived by a brother and sister residing in France, two nephews, Dr E P Feucht of Garyville, La, and Stanislaus Feucht of Grand Coteau, La, and one niece, Mrs Jules Mallard of Reserve, La.
