NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Mr. Cody Thomas Billiter, 96, entered into rest on January 23, 2013 at his residence. His funeral service will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Rowland Funeral Home with Rev. James D. Dennis, Jr.; Dr. T. Joseph Lusk; and Dr. John M. Younginer, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Pineview Memorial Park. Born in North, SC on September 7, 1916 to Allen and Bessie Billiter, he made his home in North Augusta for over 60 years. A second generation railroad man, Mr. Billiter was named after Buffalo Bill Cody. His father was a locomotive engineer for the Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show and a great admirer of Mr. Cody's. After a long railroad career, he retired from SCL RR with 45 years of service as Trainmaster. After retirement, he was a dedicated volunteer for the City of North Augusta Parks and Recreation Department. He was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church, the Stillwell Sunday School Class and the Acacia Lodge #315 AFM. He is survived by one son, Joe Billiter and his wife Terry of North Augusta, SC; one daughter, Camille Bailey and her husband Ken of Aiken, SC; and number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Mimi S. Billiter and one son, Cody Thomas Billiter, Jr. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Memorials can be made in lieu of flowers to Grace United Methodist Church, 639 Georgia Avenue, North Augusta, SC 29841.
