Helena Reichenbach was born at Katholisch, Glottertal, Freiburg, Baden, Germany on August 14, 1831. Her parents are Joseph Reichenbach and Katharina Tritschler. She married Lawrence Berkley on December 31, 1854 in St. Louis, Missouri. Three daughters were born to them; Josephina "Sophia", Louisa, and Bertha.
On May 2, 1866 Helena married John Salzman in Wabasha, Minnesota. Three children were born to them; Barbara, Mary and John.

Mrs. John Salzman of Greenfield died on Monday from congestion of the lungs. Deceased was sixty-one years of age and one of our old settlers. Mrs. Salzman was a good Christian woman, deeply devoted to her home and family. Her husband and a grown up family mourn her demise.
