Lois E. Smithey, 71, Shelbina, died Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Salt River Community Care in Shelbina.
She was born March 23, 1939 in Shelbina, MO, the daughter of Dallas Gilbert and Anna Leola Caldwell Farrell.
She married Richard Smithey on May 25, 1957, in Shelbina. He survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Jeff Smithey, Shelbina, and Kenny Smithey and wife Chris, Hunnewell; three grandchildren, Nastassia and Kenny (Buddy) Smithey, Hunnewell, and Tori Smithey, Warrensburg; one brother, Gilbert Farrell and wife Karen, Shelbina; two sisters, Bernice Bowling and husband Dick, Shelbina, and Dorothy Rash and husband Tom, Shelbina; and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one infant son, Richard Lynn; and infant sister, Linda Sue; and two nieces, Joy Bowling and Denise Mefford.
Mrs. Smithey was a 1957 graduate of Shelbina High School, and was a member of the Shelbina Christian Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star and enjoyed cooking, flowers, sewing, and traveling. Most of all she loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 15, at 1 p.m. at the Shelbina Christian Church, Shelbina, with Jim Bilbro officiating. Burial was in the Shelbina Cemetery.
Visitation was Monday evening at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Spay Neuter Fund, payable to Red Barn Veterinary Service.
