ELKHART — Nelda Bernice Rhoads, 79, of Elkhart, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart.
She was born Oct. 10, 1933, in Hooker, Okla., to Glenn T. and Minnie Martha Honeman Smith.

Mrs. Rhoads was a clerk for K-Mart for 15 years.

On Feb. 4, 1951, she married James Francis Rhoads in Clayton, N.M. He survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Bernice Fraser of Elkhart; three sisters, Vernadean Christiensen of Buhler, Velma Welch of Arizona, and Glenda Mae Dickey of Santa Fe, N.M.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Eugene Lynn Rhoads; her parents; a brother, Harold Smith; and a granddaughter.

Funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Elkhart. Burial will follow at Elkhart Cemetery.

Visitation hours are 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Whistle Stop Park, in care of the funeral home, Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.
