Harvey R. "Tim" Hoffman, 84, died Monday, January 21, 2013, at Hanover Hospital in Hanover. He was the husband of Lois J. (Kinard) Hoffman, his wife of 61 years. Viewings will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2013, at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Steltz Reformed Church, 5890 Steltz Road, Glen Rock. There will be a Masonic Service beginning at 7 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. John C. Dorr, Jr. and the Rev. Thomas D. Bellis officiating. Interment will be in Bethlehem Steltz Cemetery. Born March 26, 1928, in 6th District, Baltimore County, Md., Tim was the son of the late Harvey Lester and Clara M. (Brenneman) Hoffman. Tim served in the United States Army from May 1947 through November 1948. He retired after 17 years of service from the former Continental Wire & Cable Co. of York, and was previously employed for 23 years by the former American Insulator Corporation in New Freedom. Tim was active in the Bethlehem Steltz Cemetery Association for many years, was a member of Shrewsbury Lodge No. 423 F&AM, and the Jefferson Sportsmen's Association in Spring Grove. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, and making people happy. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Gail C. Zumbrum of Glen Rock; son, Rick R. Hoffman and his wife, Jane L. of Shrewsbury; grandchildren, Austin H. Zumbrum, Jennifer M. Hoffman, and Jacob J. Hoffman; sisters, Betty Jane Mays, Jeanette Adams, and Shirley Kohler; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Tim was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul, Carroll, and Gilbert Hoffman. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Of Foreign Wars, 406 W. 34th St., Kansas City, MO 64111; or to the American Cancer Society , 924-N Colonial Ave., York, PA 17403.
