He married the second time to Elizabeth Ann Spencer, dau. Wm. and wife, Elizabeth Spencer. She was born May 11, 1702. This second marriage is shown as on July 4, 1737 as compared to the private records of Mrs. Georgianna Harrington, which shows it as July 4, 1731. His first marriage was June 8, 1722.
At the time of his residence at West Greenwich, R.I. it was a town of much woods, and later of dense growth. Horseback was the only method of travel and the nearest village, East Greenwich, was 10 miles or more away. He was made a freeman of Exeter, R.I., in 1746. His will was dated Nov. 16, 1775, and probated Dec. 10, 1777. In it he made the following bequests:
