John A. Starcevich, 85, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 25, 1918, in Pekin, Ill. A resident for 20 years, he was a retired sales representative for a food company, a World War II Navy veteran, a member of Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.
He is survived by two daughters, Sarah Meagherr of Las Vegas and Colleen Martin of E. Peoria, Ill.; two sons, Dan Starcevich of New Salisbury, Ind., and John Starcevich Jr. of Millsboro, Del.; three sisters, Theresa Neville of Minier, Ill., Virginia Meagherr of Crawfordsville, Ind., and Kate Lang of Havana, Ill.; one brother, Charles Starcevich of Vero Beach, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 5-8 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 5485 E. Charleston Blvd. Graveside services will follow at 1:20 p.m. Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.
The family suggests donations to Odyssey Harbor House, 4011 McLeod Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89121.
