MCFARLAND Passed away early Tuesday morning, May 29, 2007. Sue loved the Lord and led a full and rich life. She was born on October 14, 1934 to Nelson Kimball McFarland and Imo Jones McFarland in Dallas. Sue was born and raised in this community, being a graduate of Highland Park High School (HPHS) and Southern Methodist University. Sue loved people as evidenced from being elected class favorite for the HPHS graduating class of 1952, she later pledged Pi Beta Phi at Southern Methodist University and graduated in 1955. She married Arthur Z Barnes on May 31, 1955 and they started their family. Their three children, Laura Sue, Jeffrey Arthur and Stephen Nelson are also HPHS graduates. Throughout her life, Sue was dedicated to service in her community. She served on numerous PTA boards and volunteer positions in the HPISD. Sue was an active member of the Junior League of Dallas, Pi Beta Phi Alumni Association and the Dallas Women�s Club. She belonged to Park Cities Baptist Church for over 58 years, where she and Arthur were married and led the college department together. Sue loved music and the performing arts. She played the lead role as the �All American Girl� in the Junior League Follies in the 1980�s. She performed for over 30 years in this annual charity event for the Junior League of Dallas. Sue passed her love of dance to her five Texas granddaughters. She constantly encouraged their pursuit of dance, taking them to and from lessons, buying their dance costumes and shoes and attending every rehearsal and performance. Sue is survived by her husband, Arthur Barnes; her sister, Tyke McFarland, her three children, The Rev Dr Laura Sue Barnes, Jeffrey Arthur Barnes, Stephen Nelson Barnes; and her nine grandchildren: Mac Girtler, Becca Girtler (Laura�s children), Rachel Barnes, Art Barnes, Meredith Barnes, and Andrew Barnes (Jeff and Gayle's Children) and Sarah Barnes, Amy Barnes and Nicole Barnes (Stephen and Christy's Children).
