Mrs. Lee was born November 9, 1915 in Ridgeland, SC and was a daughter of the late John Walter Malphrus and Golda Virginia Lowther Malphrus. She was a seamstress for over 30 years at Holiday Wear in Ridgeland and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. A beloved mother and grandmother, she will always be remembered for the love she had for her family, as well as being an avid gardener and wonderful cook.
Surviving are: her children, Laura Gwendolyn Boyd of Beaufort, Sherwood Norman Fender, Sr. of Beaufort, Phoebie Ferguson of Ridgeland and John David Boyles of Ridgeland; brothers, John Walter Malphrus, Jr. of Ridgeland, Hubert Allen Malphrus Sr. of Ridgeland and Pinckney Ryan Malphrus of Ridgeland; sisters, Lizzie Bell Woods of Ridgeland, Earline Price of Ridgeland, Myrtice Gibbons of Hardeeville and Dorothy Way of Ridgeland; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; her beloved caregiver, Kim Bonds; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Timothy Ferguson; brothers, Charlie Malphrus, Nephi Malphrus, Ellis, and Allen Malphrus; and sisters, Lillie Spilliards and Myrtice Malphrus.
Funeral services were held 3:00 PM, Monday, February 23, 2009, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Ridgeland. Interment followed in the Great Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery in Ridgeland.
