OBITUARY FOR EMMA ANN ALSBURY McFARLAND

TOPPENISH, WASH. -- Emma Ann McFarland, 66, of Toppenish died Saturday (July 19, 1986) in Providence Central Memorial in Toppenish.

She was born Sept. 23, 1919, in Buena to Orrin Alsbury and Vivian (Allman) Alsbury. She was raised and educated in Zillah.

On June 10, 1956, she married Don McFarland in White Swan. She worked for many years for Delmonte.

Mrs. McFarland was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 2229 Auxiliary and Hope Lutheran Church in Wapato.

Survivors include her husband, Don McFarland of Toppenish; four sons, Robert McFarland of White Swan, Melvin McFarland of Yakima, Jack McFarland of Grandview and Frank McFarland of Benton City; four daughters, Sharon Evans of Benton City, Donna Workman of Wapato, Judy Johann of Toppenish and Karen Hamilton of Union Gap; three brothers, Robert Alsbury of Astoria, Ore., Richard Alsbury of Portland, and Harvey Alsbury of Eugene, Ore.; one sister, Marie Keeth of Union Gap; 21 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday (July 22) in Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Zillah Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to the FOE Auxiliary Heart Fund.

Emma's birth father was James Franklin Pace. She & her brother Robert Leroy & sister Doris "Marie" were adopted by Orrin Paul Alsbury after their mother married him Oct. 30, 1925.

Emma was first married to Paul Hanks on June 11, 1938 in Benton Co., WA; They divorced. She married Melvin Kenneth Olson on June 9, 1948 in San Bernardino, CA; To this union were born two daughters: Judy Ann & Karen Joy. They later divorced. She then married Donald Burdell McFarland on June 10, 1956 in White Swan, WA.
