Bernice Shumway Skinner, 87, formerly of Mesa, Arizona, passed away on January 13, 2013, in Snowflake, Arizona.
Bernice was born September 25, 1926, in Taylor, Arizona, to James Lester and Uldene Ramsey Shumway.
Bernice got polio at age two, went through several surgeries in California and wore casts or braces for several years.
She married David Grant Skinner in 1945 and had 5 children- David Lorin Skinner, Kenneth Grant Skinner, Janice Noble, Joseph Royal and James Francis Skinner. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and enjoyed music and writing poetry. She was a dedicated wife and mother, sister and grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her husband David Grant Skinner, and sisters, Erna Larson, Jessee Baldwin, Ruth Porter, brothers Carol Shumway, Kent Shumway, and Kly Shumway
She is survived by sons David Lorin Skinner, Janice Noble and Kenneth Grant Skinner, 14 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren and a sister Barbara McGrath.
Services are Monday January 21st at 933 E. Brown Road, Mesa, Az.
Viewing at 9 AM with services at 10 AM, burial in Taylor, Az. at 4 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice Compassus,1789 W. Commerce Dr. Lakeside, AZ 85929
