Arnold Arndt Rites Held Saturday
Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p. m. at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran church for Arnold Arndt, 76, 710 North State. Family services were held that morning at the Peterson funeral home with the Rev. Edgar Eifert officiating at both. Burial was in Woodville cemetery.
Arndt suffered a cerebral hemorrhage early Wednesday morning at his home. He was taken to Waseca Memorial hospital where he died at 11:10 a. m.
Born October 5, 1877, in Marienbauck, Germany, the son of Mr. and Mrs. August and Henrietta Krueger Arndt, he attended schools in that country and come to the United States with his parents when he was about 14 years old. The family settled in Janesville and Arndt worked for various farmers in the vicinity, until his marriage.
On June 8, 1904, he was married to Mary Sommers of St. Mary township by the Rev. Strasen of Janesville.
The couple farmed in St. Mary for about 35 years until their retirement almost seven years ago at which time they moved to Waseca. Arndt served as a member and treasurer of the school board of District 16 for a number of years.
Surviving are his wife, three daughters, Mabel and Margie, at home, and Mrs. Herbert (Gertrude) Kopischke, Janesville; two sons, Walter of Waseca, and Elmer of Janesville; four grandchildren, Donald, David, Delores and Darold Arndt; brothers, Max of Wabasso and Carl of Janesville; and four sisters, Mrs. Annie Lang of Janesville; Mrs. Emma Huer of Mora; Mrs. Alvina Hartwig of Redwood Falls; Mrs. Helena Kopischke of Janesville. One sister and two brothers preceded him in death.
Casket bearers were Arthur Everett, Herbert Arndt, Willard Arndt, Janesville; Walter Lang, Owatonna; Rueben Miller and Clarence Tetzloff, Waseca. All are nephews of the deceased.
Friends and relatives from Wabasso, Redwood Falls, Mora, Princeton, Wells, Janesville, Faribault, Owatonna, Albert Lea, New Richland and Claremont attended the funeral services.
